本单元是义务教育（pep）人教版小学英语教科书五年级上册的第一单元，重点学习描述人物相貌特征和个性特点的语言，学习形容词放在系动词 be（am，is，are）后面作表语，与系动词 be 构成系表结构，以及形容词放在名词前面作定语的用法，重点呈现核心句型 Who’s your art teacher? Mr Jones. Is he young? Yes, he is. 学生们平时谈论最多的话题就是自己的老师， 这些是最贴近学生们喜爱的话题，可以瞬间激发学生们的浓厚情趣，把新的知识点融入到学生们的真实生活中，学生们更喜欢学习，更愿意接受，并能很快达到内化的程度。
单元 目标
1.知识目标 （1）能够听、说、读、写本单元 old，young，funny，kind，strict，polite，hard-working，helpful，clever，shy，Ms 等11 个单词。
（2）能够听、说、认读本单元 know，our，will，sometimes，robot，him，speak，finish，等 8 个单词。
（3）能够听、说、读、写重点句型：Is he young? No, he isn’t.
What’s she like? She’s kind. 2.能力目标 （1）能够简单描述自己的外貌特征及性格特点，能够正确询问并回答某人的性格或外貌特征。
（2）能够在图片的帮助下正确理解吴一凡的日记，能够按照正确的意群即语音、语调朗读日记。
（3）能够掌握字母-y 在单词词尾发/i/音。能够读出符合-y
